What should I do when I don’t feel like praying? Try this
This is the question I asked myself daily when I used to struggle with my prayer life. When I established this routine, I got a result that was worth sharing with you. So what should you do if you don’t feel like praying? I will share with you tips that help me out.
1. Go to bed early and set your alarm
Sleep is one major factor that robs us of quality time with our lord Jesus. By setting an alarm and going to bed early, it is the way to shake off sleep. By setting an alarm’s, you will be training your body to adjust to your prayer schedule. I remember listening to a audio message from pastor Chris, he stated that anything you do constantly for 7 days becomes a habit. With time, your body will be trained to wake up at that time of prayer. Make up your mind to go to bed early and set alarm to pray.
2. A Worship Playlist will help you.
If you live alone, create a playlist and add your favorite song to get in the mood and charge your spirit. If you live with someone, get a earbuds and move to the living room to worship quietly. I have several playlists but I could recommend few songs that I listen to when I want to worship. 1. Come Alive by Lauren Daigle. 2. No One by Elevation Worship. 3. Jireh by Elevation Worship. This will help you turn your mind towards a fervent prayer session.
3. Listen to your favorite Song.
Everyone has that one song that can make that can turn you into worship instantly. I will shared mine with you, if I press play on jireh by elevation worship, I’m tuned into worship immediately. Select your favorite worship song which can easily triggers you in a worship mood.
4. Reminisce on the words of God.
If you can’t seem to find motivation to pray, try reminiscing on the words of God. “ I know who I am, I have the life of God in me, the lord is not slow about his promise ( 2peter 3:9) oh taste and see the Lord is good ( psalm 34:8)and start listing the things you are grateful for. This stirs up gratitude and energize your faith for prayers.
Think of all the good things He has done for you. Start thanking him and remind him of your love for him. This will sets the mood.
5. Always “Thank the Lord Jesus”.
Tell him how grateful you are for his love towards you and your family. Tell him how thankful you are for all the good things he has done for you. Thank him for all the times he stood by you. You continue to thank God and you keep saying it, even if your mind gets distracted, it will align immediately.
6. Learn to speak in Tongues
Speaking in Tongues is one of the biggest advantages a believer. Speaking in Tongues takes care of things in your spirit that your mind can’t comprehend. Romans 8.26 states that we are spiritual beings. Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Speaking in tongues will change your prayer life forever.
7. Find a prayer group with your Brethren.
Iron sharpens iron Proverbs 27:17, we need each other. Try as much as possible to be connected with a prayer group. It is good to recharge your spiritual energy. The Bible stated that there is grace in the presence of God whenever we gather in His name. When brethren gathered we automatically generates power to cause change. Matthew 18:19 states that when we agree over a thing it is established.
